Newport, Oregon

I lived half a block from the beach from when I was an infant to age four, when we moved to Portland.

I have vivid memories of that time in my life. My black and white cat, Boots, my father taking me to DQ for dip cones in his little white Karmann Ghia, the wind and the waves, the sand and the gulls. I remember meeting my soon-to-be step-brothers for the first time, and playing couch monster. And crying and crying and crying when my dad left.

Haven't been back in a long time. But I drove to Waldport on my own and followed my nose to my grandparents' old house. It was sad. I was sad. I am sad.

Newport will always feel like home. The entire Oregon coast does, but this beach in particular, was where I learned how to be in this world.

Geminid Meteor Shower starlit snow hike under Wy'East

Sometimes the most magical things happen when I push myself a little bit.

Starlit snow hike, for the Geminid meteor shower, Wednesday night. Courtesy of Tyler. Photos by Bryce.

There were so. many. meteors. Constant. I've never seen so many in one night. Bryce caught one in our group shot, even. Spectacular.

It's hard to tell but I'm the one with the fuzzy wolfy hat. Tyler's in orange. New friends are magical also.

I now own 3 headlamps.

Take a flight

Flew away to a fire lookout tower for a night this weekend.

green forest, blue sky, white snow, scarlet silks.

so many ways to fly, in this fleeting, tiny existence.

eta: my friends are crazier than I am.
